A Little Walking & A Little Talking

1/29/2015

I've been trying to be good and take walks daily and today I decided to go to the mall and walk around. I find it is so much more enjoyable to people watch and walk at the same time.

Well, normally I just walk but one of the workers in a kiosk in the center of the mall grabbed my attention so I went over. I'm all about free stuff and yes, she was giving something away. As it turns out it was a sample of a hair conditioner but that wasn't what we started talking about. She really wanted me to try their Dead Sea Salt scrub on my hands..so I did. Yes, it did make my hands feel nice and smooth and no I was not going to pay $69.50 for a 10 oz. jar of salt that just had a bit of grapeseed oil and jojoba oil in it. I was gracious and did give her a gift of an essential oil sample and talked a little bit about that. You have to get the word out where ever you can.

I did finish my walk and made it home and then thought....I have Sea Salt and could probably make that same blend of oils and salt and add my own essential oil. Here is my finished product. See under the photo for my recipe.

In case you were wondering, this is exactly the consistency of the one they were selling....not too oily and grainy is what you are going for. I think this would be wonderful using himalayan pink salt. I just used regular fine sea salt that you can get at the grocery store but the pink would have more benefits and be prettier. The himalayan would also be more beneficial in a bath using as bath salts but I didn't think my husband would be too happy if I used his salt for my scrub.

1/2 cup fine sea salt
1/2 t Grapeseed oil (or whatever liquid oil you have)
1/4 t Argon oil (optional)
7 drops essential oil (I used Lavender)

Blend together until you get a grainy consistency. To use, apply a teaspoon full to hands and rub together being sure to get back of hands and palms as well as in between fingers. Rinse off with warm water. Moisturize with a good quality lotion afterwards.

There you have it...my $1 version of a $69.50 dollar product.

A Healthier YOU

I was reading a post awhile ago that clarified what healthy was and steps to get there. I know I'm my worst enemy when it comes to healthy eating but I do try, and exercise is a nightmare just waiting to happen, but I will do it.  Why? Because it will bring me closer to my goals and teach me something about myself and how to help others.

I do have a strong support network and I think that is important. A support network isn't someone who nags and complains when you are eating that bagel because it will put 5 lbs on you, but is someone who will suggest an alternative next time that would serve that purpose or craving. They cheer you on when you have reached a goal and encourage you to take that next step.

My challenge for you is to try something simple (start small) and achievable. How about walking for 1 mile 3 times this week. Then the next week add something else like eating a salad with vinaigrette dressing for dinner 2 nights that week along with the walking. Maybe cutting snacks out after dinner or changing the snack to something healthier like a handful of peanuts or raw veggies. Maybe your challenge isn't diet but is health related such as working to lower your blood pressure. Achievable goal setting will take you on the road to success.

Some of my action steps have been to drink a green smoothie each morning for breakfast, eat smaller portions at each meal, drink at least 8 cups of water a day, eat more raw fruits and veggies and walking or exercising daily.

Do you need a support network, someone to help you with your health goals or someone to just be there for you? I would love to help.

I have a healthy growing team of individuals that love to use essential oils and work at improving their health daily by taking those small steps that will lead them to success, whether they have chosen health or a financial success. We come from across the U.S. and encompass all age groups but we have one thing in common and that is the ability to enhance our health and wellness with essential oils and the drive to want to learn more. Some like myself have chosen to go further and to teach and share this knowledge with others.

I would love for you to join my team, challenge you to improve your health and support you while you achieve your goals.

Contact me and let's get started today.

Aromatherapy on the Go

I try to get in my craft room at least once or twice a week to just play for me and yesterday was my day to create. I made a couple pair of earrings and then I had a thought to use some of my sheet metal and metal stamps. I decided to do a spin on the dog tag pieces that everyone seems  to be making and wearing. This features a brass drop with a copper drop riveted together with the words Breath In One Drop. I may have to make some more of these.

My spacing on the piece needs some work but hey that just adds to the charm right.... I'm sure there are a lot of essential oil users that would like one of these. Maybe the next one I make will have Sano Therapia on it.

Last week I was all about making Calla Lily earrings and pendants. Here is my copper version. I made a sterling silver set for earrings yesterday.

If you are interested in other aromatherapy jewelry, I also make Tree of Life pendants with a lava stone that absorbs the essential oil and will continue smelling for a couple days. They are fun to wear and I always get a lot of compliments.

I'll be adding several of my pieces that are available for sale in my ArtFire studio. Feel free to take a look. www.sanotherapia.artfire.com
